HamShackTech CW Trainer

Settings

Speed, tone and volume are set in each tool, and each tool remembers its own.

Your key or paddles, the adapter they’re plugged into, and a place to test them. Used by the Keyer tab.

Keyer Setup

Plug your key or paddles into a Vail or VBand adapter, plug the adapter into this device, and choose your setup below. No adapter? Use the [ and ] keys or the on-screen pads.

Vail adapter tip: if you’ve used vailmorse.com since plugging the adapter in, unplug it and plug it back in. The Vail site switches the adapter to a mode where it stops sending key presses, and it stays that way until it’s replugged.

Test your key

Send anything. The lights show each contact closing, and the decoder below shows the letters it heard.

Key presses and releases appear here as you send.
MIDI ports
MIDI not in use.
MIDI log
Messages to and from the adapter appear here when MIDI is the input method.
Keyboard vs MIDI
Shown only if one press arrives by both routes. A Vail adapter in MIDI mode stops sending keyboard presses, so compare the two by recording key clicks and sidetone with a microphone instead.
